The week of the cake cups . . .
For Week 1 of our Peeky's Sweet Summer Club our bakers were tasked with a simple yet creative challenge to kick off the Summer Club. With a cup filled with cubes of delicious vanilla cake, a pot of sprinkles, white chocolate chips, smooth vanilla buttercream and homemade mixed berry coulis, their only instruction was to go crazy! And they did just that . . . Our first week was designed for our bakers to show their creative side in whatever way comes naturally.
Although using different techniques, our bakers created some incredible designs. From carefully throwing everything together, to delicately placing each topping in a specific place, our bakers were able to showcase their skills. Really proving that one approach doesn't fit all!
A great deal of time and effort went in to decorating their beautiful cakes. It has to be said that less time was taken to eat them after!
Our Baker of the Week has to be Darcey. What shone from Darcey's creation was that she made the challenge her own. We particularly love that she decided to make 3 "cupcakes" from her ingredients and decorated them all slightly differently. We're looking for our bakers to try something different and learn a new skill over the next 6 weeks and we feel Darcey is already on her way to becoming a brilliant baker. Well done Darcey!
